Ellaine’s interests lie in bioarchaeological analysis with a focus on osteological markers as a tool to better understand and reconstruct the lives of past people.

Ellaine undertook a minor in environmental archaeology, to pursue her commitment to understanding the role that environmental context plays in archaeological practices. Ellaine’s skills include in-depth faunal (shell and animal bone) analysis; proficient use of GIS to compile data in order to better understand cultural significance; and high competency in excavation, recording, and surveying of First Nations and historic archaeological sites in both testing and salvage phases.

Ellaine has worked with NOHC on heritage projects in NSW and ACT building a wide range of skills and experience in heritage practice. Ellaine is a confident and skilled communicator, and actively enjoys working with people from all backgrounds to achieve successful outcomes.

As a bioarchaeologist, immersing myself in the science and analysing faunal collections is a deeply rewarding experience. This enables us to piece together the intricate puzzle of past human societies and uncover insight into their diet, environment, and interactions with the natural world
