
Ricardo has project managed excavation sites of local and State significance. He has supervised excavation projects of high sensitivity such as burial midden sites and the earliest European cemetery in Liverpool, NSW.
His experience encompasses field survey, archaeological excavation, Aboriginal community consultation, site recording and planning, project management, stratigraphic analysis and identification of soil horizons, artefact identification, (Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) recording and historical research. Ricardo regularly manages complex test and salvage excavations. Ricardo’s technical specialty lies in the functional analysis of lithic artefacts through the examination of use wear and residue traces at a microscopic and microscopic level.
Ricardo has also participated in archaeological projects overseas in Italy and Mexico, undertaking field survey, archaeological excavations and total station surveying. Ricardo has experience in the preparation of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment Reports, Due Diligence reports, heritage impact statements and technical excavation reports. He has also contributed to large multi-disciplinary technical reports and management plans.
