Inglewood Homestead

Ingelwood homestead is located within the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve in the ACT. It was identified in the ‘Extension to the Mulligans Flat and Goorooyarroo Nature Reserves Offset Management Plan and that Inglewood was not heritage listed and required a heritage assessment to inform its ongoing management, and to determine whether it should be nominated to the ACT Heritage Register. NOHC completed this assessment in May 2018.

NOHC was able to document the history and significance of Inglewood. We used various forms of documentary evidence such as local histories, plans ad maps, newspaper sources and land registry book entries. We were able to link Inglewood with serval people of historical importance to the ACT including Thomas McAuliffe, Hugh Read and Joseph Winter. We also completed a photographic, sketch plan and map recording of the homestead remains.

We undertook a significance assessment of the place which determined that Inglewood homestead meets criterion c of the ACT Heritage criteria and therefore should be nominated to be included on the ACT Heritage Register.
