The Guildford pool is not a heritage listed property but due to its social function in the community Council wished to consider whether any heritage values existed and, if so, whether they would be impacted by the proposed development. The project assessed the potential impact of the proposed redevelopment of this facility on the heritage values of the property and neighbouring heritage properties.

The complex was constructed in the 1970s and was amongst the earliest centres with an indoor heated pool. Our research identified that it has some social significance arising from its association with the McCredie Park Aquatics Swimming Club since 1982, however due to its dilapidated state and the closure of the internal pool this association was at risk. The proposed upgrade of the swimming centre would enable this value for the club and its patrons to be maintained.
