Stories of Service

NOHC was contracted to assist with the production of six short biographical videos sharing the experiences of Australian service men and women during peacekeeping operations and the Vietnam war. These educational videos formed part of the Stories of Service series.

The Department of Veterans Affairs commissioned our colleagues at Art of Multimedia to produce six short case study videos to acknowledge and commemorate those who served in the Vietnam war, and in various peacekeeping missions. Six videos were produced under the series title of Stories of Service which tells the story of Australians during the World Wars and the Vietnam War.

Navin Officer Heritage Consultants role was to research and prepare the text and source the images which were then creatively designed and shaped into 6 educational videos suitable for use in schools. Australian Curriculum Year 10 History strand, with the content designed to allow engagement also by other year levels.

The first three videos focused on stories of Australian’s serving in peacekeeping operations to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Peacekeeping, September 2022.

The second three videos illustrated the experiences of veterans during the Vietnam War, in preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War in 2023.

These videos combined objects and artefacts with a storytelling approach to engage students and make the content more accessible and compelling. Photos, video footage, artefacts and objects for use in the videos was sourced from the collections of the cultural institutions across Australia including the Australian War Memorial, the National Archives of Australia and the State Library of Australia.
