The War Memorial Swimming Pool Complex Goulburn was listed in the Goulburn Mulwaree Local Environmental Plan (2009) as having high local heritage significance for its social and community association. The complex was designed by Friggis and Jefferson Architects in 1964 and features two symmetrical changing wings with a central entrance/office area. It incorporated elements of the original 1907 pool.

Prior to the centre’s redevelopment into a modern aquatic centre with enhanced community facilities, NOHC was commissioned to carry out a photographic archival recording and to develop an interpretation strategy. The pool has long been a social hub for sectors of the community, and many have in the past actively worked to raise funds towards its development.

The archival photographic record and interpretation strategy prepared by us was informed by extended interviews with local community members.
