Energy

As easy as flicking that light switch! We have a long connection with the energy sector.

Starting with our founding Director, Kerry Navin’s, archaeological honours project which focused on the Aboriginal archaeology of Lake Illawarra and excavation of sites at the former Tallawarra power station. One of Associate Directors also worked for the Electricity Commission NSW and the former Pacific Power responsible for cultural heritage assessments of transmission lines, power station buffer zones and greenfield sites and assessments of the heritage values of decommissioned infrastructure. Our involvement in the energy sectors gives us a detailed understanding of the complexities in planning and delivering energy related infrastructure.

In recent years as the focus has shifted to greater energy efficiency and the integration of sustainable energy sources there has been a renewed need for transmission line upgrades and interconnections, wind and solar farms. NOHC has continued to provide specialist heritage input to the sector on projects such as Project Energy Connect, Humelink and the Victoria to NSW Interconnector project (VNI)
