Conservation planning

Adopting a values-based approach to heritage conservation planning to ensure we are conserving what is important.

NOHC works with property managers and owners to develop, and / or update conservation planning documents for heritage places. A Conservation Management Plan (CMP) is the principal guiding document for the conservation and management of a heritage place. It is a tool that assists owners, managers and approval authorities to make sound decisions about heritage places. Ideally, all heritage places should have a regularly updated CMP, but there are also other conservation planning documents that are often useful.  These include conservation management strategies, and heritage maintenance schedules.

Our services include:

  • Preparation and updating of conservation management plans.
  • Maintenance schedules
  • Management protocols
  • Historic research
  • Identification of management priorities
  • Audits of actions implemented against plans

We acknowledge Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their many diverse communities across our nation and their rich culture. We pay respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water across the Australian landscape and seascape. We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people to Australian life and how their contribution continues to enrich our society.
